Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) have killed at least two women during mosque siege in Beit Hanun in Gaza, where 60 resistance fighters had taken refuge. Around 200 women (mothers, sisters, and daughters of resistance activists) marched on the mosque to liberate their sons, husbands, brothers and fathers. IOF’s fire, as always, did not differentiate. Two women were killed in cold blood…

I wish I could find this heroic, but I don’t. Why didn’t the Hamas radio station call on armed Hamas fighters instead of their unarmed mothers to confront the Israelis? Are they cowards? I’m sorry, but hiding behind your mothers and aunts so that they can take the bullets??

In the long run, deliberately using civilian human shields is going to hurt Hamas and the Palestinian cause. Because now the Israelis will be able to say “they were being used as shields” every time they shoot civilians.

Terribly sorry, but I disagree. Do you think the Hamas Radio station called on the mothers to organize this move?! This was a spontaneous initiative by those brave women to rescue their sons, after there was basically nothing left else to do!
Believe me if Hamas had some Apaches to radio in for support they would have.

The women may well have been doing what they thought they could for the cause, but according to news reports there was an explicit call by Hamas radio to women (who were unarmed, and one assumes the Hamas folks would have known that) to march to the mosque and help the fighters escape by dressing as women. I don’t see how that doesn’t count as getting unarmed civilians to take the bullets for you….willing as they might have been to do it.

    SP,
You are dealing with a poorly armed resistance guerrilla group. If they had apaches or tanks they could radio in, they would have. Unfortunately, it’s only the Israelis who have those.
