Egyptian secular blogger Abdel Kareem Nabil was detained by the authorities in Alexandria today at 3:30pm, after he was called in for questioning over articles he had written. The prosecutor ordered him to remain in police custody for four days pending investigation, according to the SandMonkey.

A Free Kareem campaign has been launched.

One Response to “Alexandrian blogger arrested”

  1. 1 Egypeter

Can ANYONE in Egypt enjoy Freedom of Thought or Freedom of Expression????

These are God-given rights to all of mankind!!

They’ve been harassing this poor guy for a long long time. And he’s not part of any “group” or “political movement.” He’s just a regular fellow who put his thoughts on the internet because he found no other outlet to vent his frustrations.

And then they kick him out of school and arrest him. Unbelievable. This is how Egypt treats it bravest and brightest.

That’s why I worry about you brave bloggers that are sick and tired of the status quo. Keep up the great BUT be careful of Big Brother!

Hope the Free Kareem campaign works.

    Salaam ya Hoss.
