Happy Torture Day to you too. My favorite holiday of the entire year.
Just finished reading the latest on Kareem in the Daily Star Egypt and saw your quote…nice job
I’m glad to see the good bloggers of Egypt standing behind him. It’s so incredibly absurd that this kid is even on trial let alone having already served two months. Apparantly, being an atheist and proclaiming it gets you thrown in jail these days…sad.
I know what he says might hurt the sensibilities of some, but you gotta just deal with it. If Kareem got up and proclaimed he hated Christianity it would upset me too, but I wouldn’t want to jail the kid for it!!! He never called for violence or uprising he just put his thoughts on the computer…just like I’m doing.
Here’s a quick thought:
Could the government be doing this to show Egypt/”the street” how “religious” it is? Maybe the government wants to gain some “street cred” with it’s upcoming battle against the Islamists?
Makes sense to me.
Oh well, I hope enough pressure embarasses Muburak into releasing him.
Can u imagine that El Masry El Youm mentioned that we held this demonstration to support Mubarak but to denounce Adly?
This is so silly of course
