Witch hunt against Mahalla strike leaders begins الأمن يعاقب ناشط غزل المحلة محمد العطار بنقله للإسكندرية

The crackdown on Mahalla labor activists is taking a dangerous twist… and this is just the beginning…

Ghazl el-Mahalla activist Mohamed el-Attar, who was among the leaders of the 27,000-strong December strike, has been issued a “transfer order” yesterday, and will be re-assigned to the company’s offices in Alexandria. Attar was instructed to move to Alexandria in a period no later than 16 May, or else he’ll be sacked. A number of labor activists have been also internally re-assigned to other jobs in Mahalla.

I spoke with Attar, and he said he was told today by his boss Engineer Mohamed Awad that the “order came from up high. It’s above me, and above Mahmoud el-Gebally (the company CEO). State Security does not want you here.”

It’s astounding how beauty and strength of spirit just show on people’s faces - check out the two men in the photograph, how fascinating their expressions are, profound, thoughtful. Then compare it to the frighteningly blank expressions on the faces of the amn markazi at demonstrations.

عبد الجليل عبد القادر ابو حسين من عمال غزل المحلة مش عارف والله يا حسام هما ناوين يعملو فينا اية مش كفاي الى حصل مش عاوزين يعطونا حقنا لية مش عارف بخصوص محمد العطار ونقلة الاسكندرية لية مش عارف عشان هو عاوز يجيب حق العمال الغلابة احنا اهو مناضلين من اجل حقوق العمال والله بخصوص محمد العطار دة منا ساكت لو هروح ورا الشمس وهشوف اخرة اية مع الجبالى الراجل الكلب الى ملوش اى لازمة ولا قيمة من يوم ما جية الشركة والشركة جالها الفقر والعما فى عهدتة خلاص والله قرفت منة ومن امثلاة انا بكلمك يا حسام والنار جوا فى قلبى هتولع فى جسمى خلاص انا قرفت من الشركة والى فيها وعاوز منك لو سمحت يا حسام رد سريع وعاوز كمان لو سمحت رقم تليفونك الموبيل
