Lebanese/Spanish film director Laila Hotait will be using some of my photos and graphic designs as props for a short drama film she’s currently working on…

Few notes about my flickr account…

Most of the photos on my flickr account are taken by me, but kindly note there are professional photographers who also generously share their works every now and then, like Nasser Nouri and Amr Abdallah.. as well as other bloggers like Kareem el-Beheiri… Labor activists and journalists, like Jano Charbel, Ad-Dustour’s Mostafa Bassiouni, El-Badeel’s Omar Said, and others also sometimes send me stuff… I always mention the source in the captions..

I changed my flickr settings few months ago from a fully copyrighted format to a Creative Commons License. This means anyone (especially bloggers) can freely download and use my photos, as long as it’s not for commercial purposes. I still keep however Amr and Nasser’s photos protected, coz these are their photos, and I cannot distribute them without their permission.. So before anyone contacts me asking for photos, kindly spend sometime browsing the captions.

Activist publications:
- All publications affiliated with the International Socialist Tendency are more than welcome to use my photos without my prior permission. I know many of you comrades usually battle with deadlines for printing, and there’s no need to waste a second waiting for my email response that will be “Yes, of course you can use the photo for your article.”… Just go ahead and use the photos, but kindly mention the source in the caption, and email me a link later.
-All publications affiliated to the international labor movement, trade unions and revolutionary left (be it Trotskyists from outside the IST, anarchists, communists, etc.) are more than welcome to use my photos for free too. I for sure have my differences and disagreements with some of you, but we are fighting for the same cause. Actually I urge you to use my photos whenever you can.. It’s not enough to spread the “word” about what’s going on in Egypt, but it’s ultra-important to spread the “image” of the struggle too. All I’m asking is that you also mention the source in the caption, and email me a link to the article online (or mail me a hardcopy if you don’t have a website).

Egyptian independent and opposition publications:
My colleagues at Ad-Dustour and El-Badeel are more than welcome to use my photos for free. These two publications are doing a fantastic job in covering the industrial action, and I’m more than honored to help them out. Again, all I’m asking is that you mention the source in the captions. Other opposition and independent publications: You’ll have to take my permission first.

Mainstream and state-owned media in Egypt and elsewhere:
Sorry baby, you’ll have to pay me…

Israeli, Zionist and Right-Wing publications and websites:
Go fuck yourselves, and stay away from my flickr ya manayek…

This is a very good idea Hossam, I’m sure you get a lot of requests, and your policy is superb! Do me a favor and also ban the NYT - I assume they fall under the last category.

I don’t have to ban the NYT.. coz they never cover industrial action in the first place.. Slackman is happy to go to the far end of the nile delta looking for stories about Muslim girls and female genital mutilation, sexually repressed youth, but when the biggest textile mill in the ME, located in the same bloody nile delta, goes on strike you don’t find him there….
And needless to say, when it comes to the Palestinian cause, NYT are fucking pro-Zionists… so yeah, they can go fuck themselves too…
