   The Star of David doesn’t belong to Zionism. My instinct is to find that picture offensive. Jewish religious symbols are not Zionist property.

   I realize you didn’t mean it to be offensive. Your political message is correct.

   Yet the blue star of David is the symbol on the Israeli flag. Now if it was a minora or something to that extent I’d understand; but, how else will an artist depict the state of Israel?

   To me the star is the symbol of the religion, outside all the synagogues I know. The cartoon just didn’t settle right with me.

   The Zionist flag stole it from the religion.

   Renegade Eye,
   I do understand you - the Star of David means a lot to many people, just as the symbol of Jesus Christ means the world to many people, I inlcuded. The only problem is that these symbols are used for different reasons, mainly religion and politics. I am pleased that you acknowledge that you understand that the artist does not intend to offend. That is something that art does to a lot of people - it gives different stories in one picture. I am not religious, but I love and practice what Jesus Christ stands for - I don’t get offended when I see his statues littered in Roman Catholic churches despite their political use of religion and religious mysteries because Jesus does not represent what the Catholics stand for. Zionists certainly would get a bollocking from Kind David if he was to come back and see them using his star to represent their rotten murderous politics against the Palestinians. Personally, I love what I am reading from this art of Obama as it says a million words in one picture. Well done to the artist!

   I am an Israeli and a Jew and was not offended by the painting. However, it is because I know the context behind the painting, and because I know what sites I am surfing in. I would recommend however because I understand how people would get offended by this use of symbology, to simply add a blue stripe above and below the star which would be the Israeli flag. That would solve the problem of people being offended.

   I am completely non religious, infact I have alot of anger towards religion but I can see people taking offense to their symbology used in such ways. However, those people must understand that it was Zionism which hi jacked the religious symbiology as a way of legitimizing itself as a truly jewish mechanism, which it is not. It is as jewish as the crusades were jesus-ish.
