I’ve just received news that MB blogger and friend Abdel Moneim Mahmoud has been stopped at the Cairo International airport, by Mubarak’s State Security pigs, on his way to Morocco to participate in a conference on press freedom. He remains detained in the State Security office in the airport as of time of writing…

I spoke with a Socialist source and a human rights lawyer in Cairo. The two confirmed that the following have been issued a detention decree by General Habib el-Adly, Mubarak’s Interior Minister, and were transferred from Mahalla’s local State Security bureau to Bourg el-Arab Prison in Alexandria:

Although prosecutor ordered the release of leftist blogger Mohamed el-Sharqawi, he’s still in police custody. Sharqawi was moved from el-Marg Prison to State Security’s HQ in Lazoughli sometime between 10 and 10:30am. The Prison truck that transfered him left downtown Cairo empty around 7pm. The initial news I’m getting from Mahalla is not good… Looks like the strike has been aborted.. The company compound is under police siege.. The Central Security Forces are surrounding the factory… Most gates have been shut down earlier by the police to control the flow of workers in and out of the factory… Inside [...]
