Back in the days of the Saad Eddin Ibrahim trial, the courts were the best ways to meet diplomats - they basically camped out there! I wouldn't read much into the fact that they were there for Nour's trial -- it's a big deal that is being followed closely by the administration and Congress, therefore it's normal that they were there as observers. I was not at the trial, but US diplomats (and those of other Western countries) attend almost every trial that has a political or human rights dimensions.
