Kifaya’s Abdeen Protest Pictures

A written account of Kifaya’s Abdeen protest will follow in the coming days when my schedule frees up.

For now:

V nice capturing of dynamic between security and protestors. Do you think there were as many as 500 people there? It looked big at some point but not double the size of past protests.

Thanks for the update. I read that as many as 4000 people were there. This may be a reflection of the topic being protested. There is a lot of unemployed youth. Kefaya has done well to draw on this reservoir of true concern for the apathetic average jane and Joe Doe.

Yesterday was my first time to attend a protest; I was shocked with the small number of attendees – between 150 and 250 – despite the long time taken for advertising, does anybody have an explanation?

it is very difficult to guess the number this time since we where split into many groups with big barriers between us, I don’t think any single person saw the whole protest unless that person was on the rooftop of one of the buildings there (and yes must be rooftop since one of the subdemos was behind the buildings facing the palace).

it was certainly much bigger than the non kefaia protests of the past month, I’m never good with numbers but I would say the core protest which managed to mostly unite after much violence was between 800-1000

Thank u Alaa for clarification, I actually attended the first 45 min only, didn’t notice those subgroups. Elwaay elmasry provided pretty good coverage too http://misrdigital.blogspirit.com/files/coverage/abdeen14jul05.htm
