But that was his own decision. One has to assume that some Shias, just like some members of any other faith, proseletyze. But in the Arab world the biggest effort to convert Muslims comes from a) Sunnis who want to "convert" ordinary people into militant fundies and b) American Christian groups. An Egyptian friend of mine’s father “converted” to Shiism after spending time in Saudi Arabia and deciding that Sunnism had fallen to the Wahabis. But that was his own decision.

One has to assume that some Shias, just like some members of any other faith, proseletyze. But in the Arab world the biggest effort to convert Muslims comes from a) Sunnis who want to “convert” ordinary people into militant fundies and b) American Christian groups.
