ArteEast has just launched a cool new section called "Shahadat: a Short Forum," with translations of short stories from Arabic to English. Each installment includes the Arabic original text and quite a bit of information about the author. I quite enjoyed reading, for the first time, the work of the Syrian writer Lukman Derky.
The Arabist is published and edited by Issandr El Amrani, a writer and analyst based in Cairo, with contributions by friends.
The Arabist is a labor of love. We don't make much from ads, so please contribute to keep us going.
